On this International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Somali Women and Child Care Association (SWCCA) celebrates the remarkable achievements of women and girls in the field of science and calls for increased support and opportunities for their full and equal participation. As an organization committed to the empowerment of women and children in Somalia, we recognize the critical role that science and technology play in development and the unique challenges faced by women and girls in accessing and thriving in these fields.

Despite significant progress, women and girls continue to be underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This disparity not only limits their career opportunities but also deprives the world of their potential contributions to scientific and technological advancement. On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to breaking down the barriers that hinder the participation of women and girls in science and to fostering an environment that nurtures their talents and aspirations.

SWCCA is dedicated to promoting STEM education and career paths among women and girls in Somalia through targeted programs that include mentorship, scholarships, and community awareness campaigns. We believe that by encouraging their curiosity and resilience, providing them with the tools they need to succeed, and highlighting the achievements of women scientists as role models, we can inspire a new generation of female leaders in science.

We call on policymakers, educators, parents, and the community at large to join us in this endeavor. It is essential to challenge stereotypes, fight gender bias, and create inclusive and equitable opportunities for women and girls in science. By doing so, we not only empower them but also drive innovation and progress for all.

Let us all commit to empowering women and girls in science, not just today, but every day. Together, we can pave the way for a future where gender equality in science is not an aspiration but a reality, where every woman and girl has the opportunity to achieve her fullest potential and contribute to a better world for us all.
